Key Responsibilities
As a Kitchen Helper, you will support daily kitchen operations through a variety of essential tasks. In addition, you will clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, including dishwasher mats, carts, and waste disposal units.
You will also clear and clean tables, trays, and chairs to maintain a hygienic environment. Furthermore, you will operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware, and flatware efficiently. At the same time, you will replenish condiments and supplies in serving areas to ensure smooth service.
Moreover, you will keep records of food quantities used and stock refrigerators and salad bars accordingly. You will also use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim food items. In addition, you will clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances, and equipment.
Alongside these duties, you will handle and store cleaning products safely. You will also receive, unpack, and store supplies in appropriate storage areas, including refrigerators and freezers. Finally, you will remove kitchen garbage and perform general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, washing, and polishing floors.
Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify for this role, you must have a secondary (high) school graduation certificate. In addition, you should have at least 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant experience in a similar environment. Since communication is important, a good command of English is required.
Furthermore, holding a Serving It Right Certificate will be considered an asset. You should also demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions effectively.
Work Schedule
This role requires flexibility, as shifts may include mornings, nights, weekends, and on-call duties. Therefore, you must be willing to adapt your schedule based on operational needs.
Work Conditions and Physical Demands
The position involves physically demanding tasks, including handling heavy loads of up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Additionally, you will perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods. As a result, physical stamina and endurance are essential for success in this role.
