About the Role
Emergency Management Officer Jobs in New Land. As an Emergency Management Officer, you will play a vital role in delivering emergency management functions, including reduction, readiness, response, and recovery. Moreover, you will actively support planning, coordination, and community engagement initiatives. In addition, you will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to strengthen preparedness across Wairoa.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will undertake a wide range of responsibilities. First, you will support the development and implementation of emergency management plans, programmes, and procedures. Furthermore, you will help maintain the readiness of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), ensuring systems and processes remain effective.
You will also assist in organising and delivering training exercises, while supporting emergency response activations when required. At the same time, you will engage with communities by facilitating workshops and preparedness initiatives. Additionally, you will contribute to recovery planning and coordination following emergency events. Alongside these duties, you will provide essential administrative and coordination support across various projects.
About You
To succeed in this role, you should be organised, dependable, and able to work effectively within a team. You must remain calm under pressure and adapt quickly to changing priorities. Moreover, you should be eager to learn and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
You will bring strong communication and organisational skills, which will help you build positive relationships with communities and stakeholders. In addition, you should demonstrate a proactive attitude and a willingness to contribute wherever needed. Solid administrative and coordination abilities are also important for this role.
Furthermore, an understanding of Te Ao Māori and experience working with iwi and hapū will be highly valued. Although prior experience in emergency management or community engagement is an advantage, it is not essential. Instead, your attitude, flexibility, and commitment to community service will be the key factors for success.
